Tick Checks and Brush-Outs for Northaven Dogs Back From Shelby Forest
Late summer is seed tick season in the river bottoms. A dog that runs the Meeman-Shelby Forest trails can come home carrying a cluster of them, each one barely bigger than a flake of pepper. They hide in armpits, between toes and under ear flaps, right where an owner doesn't think to look.
Our brush-out goes all the way to the skin, and the groomer checks those hiding spots along the way. If we find ticks or irritated skin, we tell you at pickup so you can loop in your vet. A flea and tick bath is on the menu when the season calls for it.
